Wireless and Data Systems

A wireless system based on 802.11a/b/g (WiFi) for data communications and recently introduced voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) is becoming an increasingly important form of communication in the hospital environment. Providers are using WiFi communications for patient records, scheduling, doctor to patient communication, from their PDAs, laptops, or tablet PCs. Newer VoIP phone systems also use the WiFi network for mobile handsets. In addition, wireless access for public use in the hospital for communication to work or family is becoming a standard.

Technology Plus will determine a client's requirements, perform an analysis and identify the systems capable of meeting the requirements. This will be followed by a system and/or vendor recommendation. The design will take into account the preferred solution and include equipment requirements, specifications and wireless access point (WAP) distribution to meet the connectivity and coverage requirements. Once the preferred technology has been identified, a complete cost analysis will be performed. This information will be used as the basis for an RFP to be issued to qualified vendors. Technology Plus will be responsible for the RFP development, acquisition assistance and implementation oversight.
