The Department of Public Safety (DOS) unifies all the city agencies tasked with ensuring Denver is the safest and most welcoming city in the nation. Their mission is to deliver a full spectrum of high-quality, public safety services to the individuals who live, work and visit the City and County of Denver. Growing at an estimated 19% over the last 10 years has put undo strain on the city and its’ services.
Denver 911 has outgrown their existing facility. Last year 911 call volume was up 16 percent with the center taking in more than 1.1 million calls. The City acquired a building on East 45th Avenue with approximately 43,000 square feet of the facility that will house the new Denver 911 communication center operation.
As part of the design team, Technology Plus, along with OZ Architects, provided design services including program review, schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction administration. This project was to renovate the interior and exterior building and site improvements as required by the City of Denver 911 Communications Center program and in accordance with components of NFPA 1221 – Standard for the Installation, Maintenance, and Use of Emergency Services Communications Systems.
The 911 center has been designed to have up to 80 call takers workstations and the associated support services.
