The Client

Welk Resort Group is a corporation based in San Marcos, California that is a developer and operator of luxury resorts and timeshares in the United States and Mexico. It was founded in 1964 by television Bandleader Lawrence Welk. As of 2020, the company has developed eight properties and has a location in Hawaii underway.

The Business Challenge

Welk Resorts got back into the development game with their new resort in Breckenridge, “The Ranahan”.  The Ranahan offers their guests a luxury mountain town experience without the need to sacrifice amenities. The Welk team needed to provide advanced technology no matter where the guests were.  This includes indoor and outdoor areas, pools, meeting rooms and common areas

The Business Solution

Technology Plus (TPI) was brought in to lead the design of the technology pieces of the resort.  Welk Resorts knew they needed to make sure that everything was of the highest quality and performance. TPI coordinated with the various disciplines to ensure that key elements were aligned and in sync, minimizing change orders and reducing unplanned for cost overruns.  Additionally, TPI recommended a GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Networking) solution which saved Welk thousands of dollars in equipment and HVAC costs and improved the guest entertainment system.  Today, Welk Resort’s newest property lives up to their name.
