Metropolitan State University- Hospitality

The Client

MSU’s Hotel and Hospitality Learning Center (HLC) is the home to the School of Hospitality, Events and Tourism at MSU Denver. The HLC is the only such facility in Colorado. HLC is a unique combination of a higher-education classroom building, a teaching laboratory, a commercial hotel– Springhill Suites by Marriott–and an operating conference center

The Business Challenge

Building a “First of its Kind” facility, essentially a full-service business class hotel and conference center will always create new challenges and obstacles. Within this 122,000 total sq.ft project, includes a 92,000 sq. ft. hotel, a 3,000 sq.ft conference center and a 30,000 sq.ft Hotel Learning Center, essentially, a classroom in a hotel.

The Business Solution

Metropolitan State University (MSU) has partnered Technology Plus (TPI) in the past on challenging projects like this.  TPI went to work helping MSU to set the requirements and identify potential roadblocks that a “one of a kind” project like this will inevitably present. The key success factor was MSU brought in TPI early, allowing us to participate in key decisions and design work.  This reduced costly change orders and helped deliver this on time.
